Description
Temulawak is the Indonesian original plant which grows many in Java, Maluku, and Kalimantan. Area of growing is in a lowland but also can grow well in a ground up to1500 metre above sea level. Temulawak also grows well in non irigated dry field soil around settlement, especially at friable soil, so that fruit of its rhizome easy to round into big. Temulawak is a herb flora type which its tree trunk is in the form of pseudo-stem and height of its can reach 2 metre. The long upstands leaf handle has peeped out starts from its jetty. Plant’s height between 2 to 2,5 metre. Temulawak has an unique flower which is bunch up and has an old yellow colour. The shape of leaf is long orbicular and look like a banana’s leaf. The frond leaf is each other close over and transform into a bar. The extract of Temulawak is easy to be digested. Temulawak can be harvested after having age of 8-12 months when its leaf has turned yellow and looked to be at the point of death. Corm will emerge from bar jetty, its colour is nutbrown or buff, its length up to 15 centimetres and diameter of 6 centimetre. The aroma of Temulawak is odorous and the taste is bitter and rather hot.

Curcumin on this plant rhizome is useful as an acnevulgaris, beside as an anti inflammation (anti chafes) and anti hepototoksik (anti bile poisoned).
